Making it Work - Employment Team

The ‘Making it Work’ supported employment scheme is run by Southend Care Ltd. It gives people with learning disabilities the opportunity to access all types of employment which includes voluntary, work experience and paid employment.  Support is provided by the team with expertise in finding employment for people with disabilities. The employee may work various hours from part time up to full time employment.

Support for both employee and employer is provided free of charge and includes training in appropriate work skills, integration of the employee into the workplace, help with communication between employee and work colleagues and can provide a job coach to work alongside the employee to give support until independence is achieved.  Access to the team is available for support and advice in all aspects of employment, including pay and conditions and the benefit system.

Community Inclusion supports people with learning disabilities in accessing social groups and activities in the community.  We provide 1-1 support and work alongside individuals in building their confidence, friendships and positive experiences within their local community.
